FAQ

Working at the shop everyday I probably get this question asked the most, "Is this a shirt or a dress?" It's a completely valid question since the dress hem lines are shorter and the top hem lines are much longer than they have been in the past. Instead of looking at this as a problem, look at the positive. You now have multiple ways to wear one item, making the things you buy more versatile. I put together an example below of how you can wear one of our knit dresses as a dress or make it into a top!

Tresics, Scoop Neck Knit Dress with Smocked Waist
Shown here as a dress w/scarf and chunky necklace, finish off with tights and boots
Shown here as a tunic top, belts are a great way to shorten dresses/tunics and break up the fabric so it doesn't look as long

do I dare

I follow quite a few blogs throughout the week in order to stay inspired and find new ideas for the shop & life in general. Great style is out there everywhere, even in places you'd least expect it. Here are a few of my favorites:
Thus came my next idea. I have seen quite a few of them dedicate to 100 days of blogging. I am choosing to do this myself as to 1. get in the habit of blogging more often & 2. share even more about Gigi's and the great style in the world around us. So, I am here by dedicated to 100 blog posts (disclaimer: I am doing this for 100 work days, i.e. mon-fri for 100 posts) Thanks so much to the few of you that do follow this blog! I would love to know who you are, so post a comment every once in awhile to say hi!

boot-ylicious

Happy first day of fall! Boots are my favorite shoe trend for fall/winter & if you don't have a couple pair stored in your closet already get shopping. This is one thing I would recommend purchasing early in the season rather than waiting for a sale. Generally the good styles sell out, especially in popular sizes. Good thing is just about anything goes when it comes to styling & boot height. Here are a few of my faves & where to get them, happy shopping!

Jessii by Steve Madden, $150, stevemadden.com
This bootie height is becoming very popular. I like booties w/slouching and details such as knots and bows.

Campus Boot by Frye, $278, urbanoutfitters.com
This boot is a mid calf height. Love the ruggedness of this boot & this is a great color that goes with black or brown (double duty!)

Tostido by Steve Madden, $159, dillards.com
This boot has the look and feel of a Frye boot for about 1/2 the price. It is a knee high & I love the riding boot look. It has a lower heel which will give you some height but still be very comfortable!

Sable Boot by Sam Edelman, $250, nordstrom.com

This is an over the knee style. It is cuffed in this picture, but can also be worn uncuffed. The higher heel on this style also makes it great for any leg length.

white out

"labor day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer"

I read this quote somewhere and I find it all to true. Here in NC even the weather has taken a fall turn. Unusual this early in the season, but it has put everyone in full fall spirit. That and the start of college football (my favorite part of the season :) Labor day also marks the end of wearing white. Although I am not a stickler for most so called fashion rules this is one I stick to. Ladies, no more white bottoms, shoes or handbags until Easter. Time to switch to winter whites, creams & beige's. Trust me on this one, it's time to put the white away for the winter.
Welcome fall & happy shopping!
